Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to treat varicose veins and spider veins. It typically involves injecting a solution directly into the affected veins, which causes them to collapse and eventually fade away. The solution irritates the lining of the vein, causing it to swell and stick together. Over time, the body absorbs the collapsed vein and it disappears.

Sclerotherapy is typically done on an outpatient basis, and the procedure usually takes less than an hour to complete. The number of treatments required varies depending on the size and number of veins being treated, but most patients require several sessions to achieve optimal results.

Some common side effects of sclerotherapy include mild discomfort, swelling, and bruising at the injection site. In rare cases, more serious side effects such as blood clots or allergic reactions to the solution used in the procedure can occur. It's important to discuss the risks and benefits of sclerotherapy with your healthcare provider before undergoing the procedure.

At EmPower Vitality, we provide both two forms of sclerotherapy : injectables and Intense Pulse Light. The choice of therapy depends on the vein condition. There are cases when both modalities may be combined.
